MEET KATIE

Trauma and Grief Therapist in Kansas City

You feel like there is something wrong. You may know the root to why or maybe the reasoning is hard to place.

Your journey thus far may have been one of overwhelm, self-criticism, loneliness, constant relationship challenges, or feeling disconnected.

You might have tried therapy before and you felt the need to mask yourself, may have not been able to find the right words or labels to what you were feeling.

Processing unsettling feelings and thoughts internally during therapy can be hard, but the environment in which therapy is held shouldn’t feel that way.

And that’s not the way it will feel like here.

Hi, I’m Katie!

I am a LCSW (Missouri) and LSCSW (Kansas) with over 10 years of experience, working with diverse populations and journeys. I specialize in trauma therapy, crisis prevention, suicidal thoughts, grief, and substance use recovery.

This is built off personal lived and professional experiences, not a textbook. I can relate to knowing what it can feel like to move through life on autopilot, to question your emotions, or to feel stuck in patterns that don’t reflect who you want to be.

I believe healing happens when people feel safe enough to talk honestly about the experiences they often hide from others. I hold a lot of importance in creating a safe environment in my office, hosting a warm and open minded approach.

While I hold my role as a trauma and grief therapist very close, I also enjoy being called “Mom” by both two and four legged babies of the household! I have really embraced my hobbies in my own healing journey - travel, garden, crochet, or just relaxing with my loved ones.

Trauma Therapy with me is…

  • Honest and direct, seeking clear insights to support genuine healing

  • A personalized approach, built around your needs

  • Exploring patterns of thoughts and behaviors with compassion, not criticism

  • Paying attention to what’s happening in real time, both in your thoughts and in your body

  • Relatable with real humor - it helps navigate the heavy stuff!

Trauma Therapy with me is not…

  • Treating you as a diagnosis - you are YOU before you are a label

  • One sided lectures from me

  • Forcing positivity or rushing the healing process

  • About changing you as a person; it's about becoming more fully yourself

  • Having expectations for you to share things before you are ready
